Student CD-ROM Program to accompany Tesoros

The Tesoros (Treasures) program is an exciting and innovative first year media-based Spanish program that addresses the increased faculty interest in and need for media-based products in beginning Spanish programs. The Tesoros product is one in which the entire course content is delivered completely on CD-ROM through an engaging, mystery-based story that motivates students to learn the language in a medium that is captivating, pedagogically sound, and fun. A full range of print materials (including a textbook and workbook/lab manual) is available to accompany the CD-ROM.

Author Biography

Robert J. Blake is Chair of the Spanish and Classics Department at the University of California, Davis. He has published widely in the field of Hispanic linguistics and is a nationally recognized developer of computer-assisted language-learning software. Currently, he sits on MLA’s Advisory Council and is an MLA delegate in pedagogy.

Javier Blasco Pascual (Universidad de Salamanca, Ph.D.) is professor of Spanish Literature and Literary Theory at the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain). He is both the author and editor of numerous books and articles on Miguel de Cervantes, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Ramón Valle Inclán, Modernist literature, the Piscaresque novel, and Spain's cultural history. He recently published Cervantes, raro inventor (Universidad de Guanajuato, 1998) and Juan Ramón Jiménez, prosista (Fundación Juan Ramón Jiménez, 2000). He has served as visiting professor at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, the University of Montreal, the University of California at Davis, and the University of Dakar (Senegal). He is the founding director of, a digital journal dedicated to promoting creative writing and literary exchanges. Currently, Dr. Blasco directs a research group that is in the process of editing the complete works of Juan Ramon Jiménez.
